Hi Everyone,
After a crazy time adapting to life under lockdown, virtual dance classes, and easing back into “normal life”, we’ve made it through! I continue to be impressed by the resilience of our dancers and how quickly they adapted to the several changes we’ve been through since March. Fingers crossed that next term doesn’t have any disruptions!

Classes open to enrolment
We are opening up a few classes for enrolment in term 3.
Junior Lyrical
Great addition to ballet or jazz classes. Helps to expand dancers’ technique and artistry.
Friday 4:00-5:00 at Selwyn House
Available to dancers aged 8-12
Dancers must be currently enrolled in either ballet or jazz to participate
New Pre School Classes!
We are opening two new pre-school classes next term!
Friday 1:45-2:30 and Saturday 9:00-9:45am. Both at The Arts Centre
Available to dancers aged 2-4
Note for Selwyn House Dancers
The school have expressed concern that some dancers are left unsupervised on the playground prior to their lessons. If dancers are waiting onsite for their after school lessons, they need to either be enrolled in afterschool care or they must sit quietly in the corridor outside the studio. Please remember – our teachers are only responsible for dancers for the scheduled lesson time.
Exams
We are happy that the Royal Academy of Dance are able to offer exams to some of our ballet dancers this year. However, exams with the Australian Teachers of Dancing are still up in the air. I have made the decision that these classes will not sit exams this year. However, we will continue to train the dancers on the work and get them to an “exam ready” level. The plan is that these dancers should be able to move onto the next grade in 2021 and will not be required to repeat the work from this year. (Provided the dancers reach the level we require for exams). The only exception to this are our Senior Jazz dancers who are required to sit this years exam if they want to progress with the advanced levels. We will be arranging a virtual exam for this class.
Performances
It is disappointing to have had to cancel our mid-year showcase this year but to make up for that and the lack of exams, we are working to make our end of year performance better than ever! Our end of year performance of Alice in Wonderland is scheduled for Saturday 12th December. Some classes will be required for theatre rehearsals on the 11th December.
